Reading: We are now using R.A.C.E to refer to details and examples in a text when explaining what the text says explicitly and when drawing inferences from the text. Ask your child to explain what R.A.C.E stands for!

EX: Who was Winnie the Pooh's Best Friend?
Winnie the Pooh's best friend was Eeyore. I know his best friend was Eeyore because Winnie the Pooh said, "we will always be best friends" to Eeyore after the party.
We will also be finishing our reading of the chapter book, Tales of a 4th Grade Nothing. We will be reading chapters 9 and 10 and having open discussions of the theme of the story.
Writing: In writing we are working on opinion writing. This week the students will be picking their own opinion topic to write a 3+ paragraph piece on.
